Cross Country Information


Each week the participants run a measured course which is timed. Distances vary depending on age group. Locations alternate between several running courses around Haddon, Ross Creek and Smythesdale. Events are times with records and champions awarded at the end of the season.

Full membership must be paid to compete, however new members are welcome to "come & try" for two weeks. Membership must be then paid to continue. 

Club Uniform:

One off purchase of a club singlet or tshirt for $15. 

Must be worn to all events to display the club sponsors.

Virtual Runs

This is where participants can complete the set course in their own time over the designated weekend. This opportunity encourages everyone in the community of all ages to participate (including Mums and Dads). It is a great opportunity to maintain enthusiasm and fitness, especially for those that participate in other sports (Footy, Netball, other) and are not available on a Friday night. A different course will be set each week and participants can run the course between Friday night – and 4pm Sunday afternoon.  The run must be timed and be emailed to the WYAC so it can be recorded and adjusted with a handicap by 4pm Sunday.  Emails to

Aggregate point system

First place will receive points as of the number of competitors - down to the last finisher gaining 1 point. Athletes starting but not finishing a race receive one point. Athletes having first race will gain an invitation handicap. Aggregate point will accrue throughout the season with the highest points being the winner in each age group.

Handicap system

Athletes will be handicapped from their first race. The handicap time then will be determined from a pre-set time. Handicap times will be checked and adjusted when necessary.

Sponsored awards (trophies/medallions)

To be eligible for a sponsored or club award, new athletes must be registered and have at least 2 starts to confirm their handicap times.

Club Championships

Club championships will be run during the season with the fastest times in each group being the age group champion.
